Multi-Use Path Planning Underway in Little Village Neighborhood
by Metro Strategies
Metro Strategies was part of the consultant team working with the Chicago Department of Transportation and Chicago Department of Planning and Development to study the feasibility of transforming an unused rail line in the Little Village neighborhood into a multi-use path. Known as the Little Village Paseo (Spanish for “walk,”) this rails-to-trails project will provide much-needed open space and a link to important community services. Metro Strategies worked closely with residents and stakeholders to incorporate their ideas and address their concerns.
In March 2016, the plan expanded to include another 2.7 miles of abandoned, at-grade right-of-way. The resulting four-mile trail, now simply called the Paseo, will connect Little Village with Pilsen, and feature artwork that celebrates Latino culture.
