Karyn Romano started Metro Strategies in 2004 as a one-person shop with two clients. Since that time, she has grown the company to a highly regarded policy, planning and public affairs firm with numerous private sector and public agency clients. Her entrepreneurial spirit and drive is brought to each and every project the firm undertakes.
Karyn specializes in community and government relations, policy development, project management, advocacy and legislative strategy and public involvement. She works with clients to develop high-level strategy for various projects and assists with outreach to numerous stakeholders. Her almost 30-year career in Illinois has provided her with extensive experience and relationships with the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, as well as with all levels of government.
Prior to starting Metro Strategies, Karyn held the positions of transportation director at the Metropolitan Planning Council, government affairs liaison for Christopher B. Burke Engineering, deputy director of the local government division of the Illinois State Comptroller’s Office and project coordinator for the North Central Council of Mayors and the West Central Municipal Conference. She has been an active member of various professional organizations and served on the DuPage County Board. Karyn is also a proud Elmhurst College alumnus, earning a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Urban Studies.
Outside of the office, Karyn is passionate about animal rights and assisting the DuPage County Animal Care & Control Shelter. Karyn loves to cook, read and explore the region and neighboring states. She lives with her husband and daughter in Glen Ellyn, IL.
